Life and legacy of Bharat Ratna P. V. Kane

Bharat Ratna has been awarded to many distinguished personalities but P V Kane is the only person to whom it is given for academic work and for authoring one literary work. Bharat Ratna P.V. Kane is best known for his five-volume literary work, History of Dharmasastra. It is a monumental work of 6500 pages and it has a bibliography of 176 pages. Indexes of five volumes made by P V Kane himself run through 350 pages. Mahamopadhyay P V Kane was one of the worthy founder members of Bhandarkar Oriental Institute. On his birth anniversary, Dr. Bapat shared the bonding between P V Kane and the Bhandarkar oriental institute.
