The Emperor's New Clothes

“The day of the parade came, and the tailors finally presented the emperor with his new clothes. ‘But I don’t see them!’ thought the emperor to himself, in a panic. ‘Ah, what beautiful clothes, Your Majesty,’ said the servant, in a high-pitched voice. The emperor, afraid of appearing foolish, nodded in agreement and quickly pretended to put the clothes on.

The great door of his room swung open and the emperor began to walk proudly through his palace. All the important, lofty people walked up to the emperor. ‘What beautiful clothing,’ they lied. ‘I’ve truly never seen anything like this,’ said one.

Everyone complimented the emperor on his gorgeous clothes, while the whole time he wasn’t wearing anything at all!

Loulou giggles. “Heehee, an emperor in his birthday suit! Can’t you just picture it?”
