Notes From the Ahead: The Checkup

Dear Public, This account of a hospital visit on space station Hoch in 2188 reached me on the evening of June 24, 2018. The transmission began while I removed winter decorations from my living room when an oscillating noise caught my attention. This was not one of my perimeter alarms, I knew, as the sound had a calm, unhurried quality to it—attracting, not disquieting.
