Chivalry: Dizain des Reines

Chivalry' is an early work by Cabell, a slim collection of short stories that are formally part of the Don Manuel cycle but have little to do with it, being inspired by genuine historical occurrences. They are more traditional than his later works, less funny, and obviously less 'naughty,' yet they have a similar worldview. Prince Edward in the second narrative is extremely similar to Don Manuel in 'Figures of the Earth.' Indeed, most of the 'types' that populate Cabell's works can be found, although in a more subdued form.

John gave this book a new taste in his narration.
